Asamoah Gyan has shared a video that signifies the role he played as a footballer who carried the entire nation on his shoulders through thick and thin.
After missing the critical penalty against Uruguay at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Asamoah Gyan has not received the same reception from Ghanaians.
Although he is currently Ghana’s top scorer with over 50 goals to his credit, Asamoah Gyan believes he has not been properly appreciated.
This video can be linked to the perfect scenario at the 2010 World Cup match against the USA where a solo goal from Asamoah Gyan in the first half of the extra time sent Ghana to the Quarter Finals.
While Asamoah Gyan thought he was saving Ghana and ensuring that the Black Stars win matches, his people turned against him and just as Jesus Christ crucified him.
The captain armband was stripped from him and passed onto Dede Ayew and he has also been dropped from the Black Stars squad after the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.
Asamoah Gyan’s video gives meaning to why he believes the Black Stars will not be the same without him and despite all the criticism he still faces, he still feels proud to have donned the shirt and represented Ghana.
